The children who live in the street are called street children/urchin. They have to live under the open sky. They spend their nights on the footpaths, railway stations, bus stands and launch ghats. They move from one place to another around the city in search of livelihood.
রাস্তায় বসবাসকারী শিশুদের পথশিশু বলা হয়। খোলা আকাশের নিচে থাকতে হয় তাদের। ফুটপাথ, রেলস্টেশন, বাসস্ট্যান্ড ও লঞ্চঘাটে তাদের রাত কাটে। জীবিকার সন্ধানে তারা এক স্থান থেকে অন্য শহরে ঘুরে বেড়ায়।
They earn their livelihood by working hard. They have to carry loads, break bricks, and sell flowers. They are treated harshly. Most of them are forsaken by their parents. They are deprived of parental affection, care, and security. They are also deprived of education, healthcare and nutrition etc.
তারা কঠোর পরিশ্রম করে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করে। তাদের বোঝা বহন করতে হয়, ইট ভাঙতে হয়, ফুল বিক্রি করতে হয়। তাদের সাথে কঠোর আচরণ করা হয়। তাদের অধিকাংশই তাদের পিতামাতা দ্বারা পরিতেক্ত। তারা পিতামাতার স্নেহ, যত্ন এবং নিরাপত্তা থেকে বঞ্চিত। তারা শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, পুষ্টি ইত্যাদি থেকেও বঞ্চিত।
In fact, they are a burden to society and of the government. Therefore, it is our duty to rehabilitate them. We can rehabilitate them by collecting and sheltering them into vagrant houses or orphanages, by givig them vocational training and elementary education, by giving them small loans and by managing them self-employment.
আসলে তারা সমাজ ও সরকারের বোঝা। তাই তাদের পুনর্বাসন করা আমাদের কর্তব্য। আমরা তাদের সংগ্রহ করে ভবঘুরে বা এতিমখানায় আশ্রয় দিয়ে, বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ ও প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা দিয়ে, ক্ষুদ্র ঋণ দিয়ে এবং তাদের স্ব-কর্মসংস্থানের ব্যবস্থা করে তাদের পুনর্বাসন করতে পারি।
